To the Great Citizens of Millsberry:
Millsberry has always been a place where kids feel that they belong – a place where kids can connect with other kids, their virtual buddies, play games and most of all – have fun! We are sad that Millsberry is closing and its citizens are graduating, but we would like to recount our successes that you’ve helped make possible over the years.
For the past six years, we have donated $109,000 to charities like Feeding America and helped kids in Malawi, we welcomed Buzz the Bee and had fun visiting his Greenhouse, we’ve stopped Chip the Wolf from getting all the Cookie Crisp, we’ve bought and sold our treasures in the yard sale, we’ve become fashion designers and race car drivers, and most importantly – we’ve filled our neighborhoods with smiling faces and friends.
Millsberry was a great website, and it was highly valued. We will miss it just as much as you and your children, and thank you for your support and Millsberry spirit.
Sincerely,
The Millsberry team at General Mills
P.S. Update November 12th, 2010:
We have received so many thoughtful comments over the past few weeks about Millsberry. We just want to acknowledge and thank everyone who has reached out to us with statements of support. Some have questioned our decision, we admit, but many have just been heartfelt expressions of appreciation for what we were able to create and build together in the community of Millsberry.
To those who wonder whether every option was considered, We can truly say "yes." We analyzed every alternative. We considered every option. This decision was very difficult, because we very much wanted Millsberry to continue. Millsberry meant so much to so many - we know - and it definitely means a lot to us. We are very proud of Millsberry's legacy, and we share your sadness in seeing it come to an end.
It is our sincere hope that the ideals of our little town will live on in the communities that Millsberry fans will move on to and will create going forward - wherever that may be.
We want to thank everyone for your statements of support, and for the appreciation you have shown for all that Millsberry strived to be.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts - and for being a part of Millsberry.
